» News: PCA Minister Responds to GA FV Committee Report
Breaking News Today: Pastor Jeffrey J. Meyers of Providence Reformed Presbyterian Church (PCA) in St. Louis, MO has released a response to the GA committee's proposed report about the Federal Vision controversy. Meyers titled his response 30 Reasons Why It Would be Unwise for the PCA General Assembly to Adopt the Federal Vision Study Report and Its Recommendations.
Meyers previously served on the Missouri Presbytery's study committee (PDF of their report) that considered some of the same issues comprehended in the denominational study committee report.
Editorial Comment: We hope to arrange interviews with Meyers and with committee members if they are willing to discuss the '30 Reasons' provided by Meyers in his response. We'll also be monitoring the blogosphere to get a feel for the zeitgeist. As far as we are aware, there has been little to no discussion of the committee report so far. As always, send us links if we are missing any interesting or inspiring news in the Reformed world.

This whole hooplah reminds me of the ordination transfer of major FV figure into MO presbytery almost 3 years ago. The pastor from a influential PCA church in town got up in the middle of the heated rhetoric and said: "What's the big problem here? This man is just stating the continental reformed theology I learned at WTS." What's the big problem here?
Covenant Radio will be doing an interview with Meyers, Horne and a few others in a roundtable discussion response to the PCA report. More information can be found at http://www.covenantradio.com
I just wanted to stop by and say "thanks" for this blog. Keep up the good work.
There's a nice thread over on this blog.
"Nice" is hardly the right word to describe it, Jared.
Jeff,
It's pretty amazing, like an epic Ridley Scott movie or something. A couple weeks ago I posted a few short opinions on the 9 declarations of the report on my blog (not the one you visited, but my other one). I find myself in the middle, which is tantamount to being an FV advocate according to the critics. I defend them as brothers, to be sure, and defend their theology where I believe they are being insightful. What more can one ask?
For some folks, theology is like sex. Good things can theoretically result from it, but that's not why they do it.
When I read threads on "greenbaggins'" site, I usually come away praying that most of those men are not taking communion on a regular basis, to their condemnation, for disunity within the Body of Christ. Thankfully, Southern Presbyterians don't seem to usually take communion that often.
A worthy receiver, who can find?
Wow, Gabe. Some things change but some just seem to stay the same.
You're as much of a hatchet man for the FV and "Reformed Catholicism" now as you were against them last year when you were a staunch Covenanter showing out for the TR's on the Puritan Board and elsewhere.
